Cover the lemons with water in a saucepan. Then bring it to the boil and let it simmer for one hour. Slice the lemons in two discarding pips. Place them into a blender complete with skins, and blend until a paste is achieved.
Preheat the oven to 170C. Grease a 2lb tin with a little butter and line with greaseproof paper. Beat the eggs and sugar together. Fold the flour, baking powder, almonds and lemon paste into the egg mix.Pour into the tin and bake for 45 mins until the top is golden.
Keep aside, in the tin, to cool for ten mins. After this time, turn out onto a wire rack to cool completely before eating.
